- Franz Xaver Murschhauser lived and worked mainly in Munich, he studied with Johann Caspar Kerll. Murschauser published organ works and two music theory works, of which this is the second. The first is 'Fundamentalische kurz- und bequeme Handleitung sowohl zur Figural als Choral Music' (Munich, 1707). Both works are considered conservative and distinctly 'old-fashioned' in their treatment of the subject, and were strongly attacked by Johann Mattheson in his 'Critica musica'.
This is part one only, part two does not exist.
Book block has been home to 'bookworms', probably larvae of beetles.
The last five pages are a list of printing errors, mainly in the music type. In this volume they have been corrected and then crossed out in the list.
According to the bookseller's note that is inserted in the volume (by Schneider, Tutzing?), this is a rare volume and an interesting example of musical type printing.
