Ferdinand Hérold wrote the overture, chorus and other pieces for the heroic drama “The Last Day of Messolonghi” (Le Dernier Jour de Missolonghi, drame héroïque en trois actes, en vers, avec des chants - edited by Barba Paris, 1828) also called "le Siège de Missolonghi" or the mélodrame « Le dernier jour de Missolonghi » . This drame héroïque en vers, Le Dernier Jour de Missolonghi written by Jean Georges Ozaneaux (1795-1852) was created april10th 1828 at the Odéon in Paris. Its ouverture has remained thanks to a delicious motif that has become popular.
