- Von Seelen was extremely productive as a writer. A list of his writings lists 419 printed works dealing with theological and orientalist as well as pedagogical, local historical, biographical, numismatic and even alchemical topics. As an educator, he reformed the teaching system at the Katharineum Gymnasium zu Lübeck and brought the school to a new level of prestige. He was the first to describe the history of the school. He kept out of the theological disputes of his time. Together with Samuel Gerhard von Melle and Heinrich Scharbau, he published a scientific journal Bibliotheca Lubecensis, which appeared in twelve volumes from 1725-1732, and was also involved in its successor, Nova Bibliotheca Lubecensis (eight volumes 1753-1757).
Part 3 contains the lyrics to the music which was played at the jubilant orations held in St. Catherina's Auditorium on september 1st 1740, in grateful remembrance of the 600 year old town of lubeck - Permalink:
