Senaillié published five sets of ten violin sonatas during his lifetime, this is the first.
Titon du Tillet states in the supplement to the Parnasse français: "Senaillié excelled also in the precision and grace with which he played the violin ... He made an agreeable blend of the natural, noble and gracious melody of French music with the learned abd brilliant harmony of Italian music, which [combination] pleased persons of good taste".
