Johannes Schmidlin was a Swiss pastor, composer and choirmaster. He founded the Singgesellschaft Wetzikon in 1755 and is considered a pioneer of popular singing in 18th century Switzerland.
Lavater, a Swiss poet, writer, philosopher, physiognomist and theologian, published his 'Swiss Songs' in 1767.
