Nota:
Fedele Fenaroli (1730-1818) was an Italian composer, music educator and a representative of the so-called Neapolitan School.
Fenaroli composed mainly church music and works for organ or harpsichord. His fame, however, is based more on his didactic work and the success of some of his teaching materials, especially his Partimenti, which were widely circulated beyond Italy.
With the help of a partimento, typical models of voice leading, harmony, form and motives are practised. Compositional models in partimenti are above all the octave rule (scala), cadences (cadenze) and sequences (movimenti). There is no strict separation of counterpoint and harmony in the partimento tradition.
