German pianist & composer J.S. Schröter came to England in 1771. Initially organist at the Royal German Chapel, he became a protege of Johann Christian Bach. With connections to court, he became a celebrated pianist. In 1782, after Bach's death, he became music-master to the Queen. A few years after Schröter's death, the married Joseph Haydn met his young widow Rebecca Schroeter, fell in love with her and dedicated his Trios op. 73 to her.
