- Nota:
- 'Les mille et un jours' is a collection of fairy tales based on the model of One Thousand and One Nights. It was published in five volumes between 1710 and 1712. De la Croix supposedly translated it from a Persian compilation titled Hazar u yek ruz (هزار و یک روز, lit. A Thousand and One Days) which he acquired from one 'Dervish Mocles' or 'Moklas' in Isfahan in 1675. It is unclear how much of this is true, and how much of the collection was actually invented by Pétis de la Croix himself.
De la Croix is a French orientalist, diplomat, professor of Arabic and interpreter to Louis XIV. He spoke Arabic, Persian and Turkish
