- Nota:
- The reverend Burgh had been working as the vicar of St. Lawrence Jewry since 1815. By changing the liturgy in his church, he made himself so unpopular that his parishioners unsuccessfully petitioned Queen Victoria to have him removed. The composer and organist Samuel Wesley was a frequent visitor to Burgh House (Hampstead Village, UK) at this time; he described Burgh as ‘an odd fellow ... and as diverting as Punch’.
