Dutch magazine/paper "with geographical, historical, literary, medical, legal, theological, poetic, and oratorical observations, tests, questions, sketches, and treatises" that appeared with irregular frequency between 170 and 1761, and of which several editions were published together in bookform.
contains "Proefondervindingen over de ademhaling", a letter about medical issues on breathing by Mr. Bremond.
begins with an 'Interpretation of the Tytel-Prent', (explanation of the title page) in the form of a poem by Pieter Langendijk, followed by the title print on which a facade stone of a Dutch warehouse is revealed (Jan Caspar Philips inv. et fec.).
dedicated to George Clifford (1685-1760) , 'one of the first pillars of the country's renowned commerce; a famous mediator and an excellent promoter of the arts and sciences' Clifford was a Dutch merchant and banker. He is best known as the botanist and zoologist who employed Carl Linnaeus between 1735 and 1738. Clifford was an exponent of the growing public interest in science that developed in the first half of the eighteenth century. - Permalink:
