William Meerman, a sailor, son of a burgomaster of Delft, travelled in 1612 along the northern coasts of America, and left Comedia vetus of Bootsmans praetje, with wise notes by Van den Hoven, and a glossary of obscure Suranese words and also a satire of the theological quarrels between the Gomarists, by Franciscus Gomarus, and the Arminians, by Jacobus Arminius.
