- The end of 1978 saw the opening of the First Latin American Biennial of Sao Paulo, the theme of which was the continent's myths and magic. The following essay was presented at the Symposium held in the context of that Biennial. At the same time the CAYC Group - which in 1977 had received the main prize at the Fourteenth International Biennial of Sao Paulo, on this occasion awarded for the first time in its twenty-seven years of existence, to the representatives of a Latin American country - participated in the First Biennial with a collective work, which illustrates these pages.
