a| Edouard-Georges-Jacques Gregoir (Grégoir) was an author on music, a pianist and a composer. From 1844 on he engaged in reforming the teaching methods and systems in elementary schools, while shortly after he was commissioned by the Belgian government to organise choral education in the Belgian army. Henceforth Gregoir was intensely working in the field of music historiography, particularly proving his mettle with his historical writings on music in Belgium and on Belgian composers. His sources are not always considered to be entirely reliable.
