a| Post-Prae-Ludium for Donau, performed in Donaueschingen in 1987, was born from the close collaboration between the musician and the performer: Giancarlo Schiaffini. The latter, together with flutist Roberto Fabbriciani and clarinettist Ciro Scarponi, was one of the performers who collaborated continuously with Luigi Nono in his last musical wanderings, following the turning point marked by the Fragmente-Stille quartet, an Diotima. Their performing technique solicited the composer's imagination, suggested other sounds, and actively interacted in the creative process. In fact, during the genesis of Prometheus, Nono noted: <<Fabbriciani in the C3 F3 register of the flute Scarponi in the D flat2 A flat2 register of the clarinet, Schiaffini in the F2 F3 register of the tuba manage to produce true sine wave sounds without harmonics (all analysed in Freiburg with the sonoscop)>>. The fundamental and inevitable encounter with live electronics in Freiburg, with the technique of live transformation of the sounds produced by the instrumentalists and singers, altered Nono's own compositional work just as it made his graphic transcription uncertain.
