a| Joseph Schad was a German composer and organist. He was a pupil of Louis Schmitt in Frankfurt and for a time was dedicated to giving organ concerts. He established himself as an organist in Morges (CH) , later became a professor at the Conservatory of Genevavand finally settled in Bordeaux where he died. He wrote a large number of fantasies, transcriptions, waltzes, masurques, etc., for piano, vocal melodies and the ballet Franizia.
