a| Johann Franz Metzger, born in Enkenbach in Landkreis Kaiserslautern, baptized December 26, 1729, was a German pianist and composer, from 1785 active in Paris. He was still alive in 1808 and probably died shortly afterwards. Metzger also composed cello sonatas, and dLa Bataille de Fleurus (tone painting for piano which describes the Battle of Fleurus in 1794), which was an important component of the well-known musical process in Uppsala in 1800, a notorious trial against seven academic citizens on the occasion of their "strike" as musicians in the Royal Academic Chapel at a party celebrating Gustav IV Adolf's coronation.
