a| His main work is a comprehensive chronicle of the city of Lübeck, which, due to its political importance and the large number of historians who had been active before him since the time of its foundation, had a good source of information. The 'Umständliche Geschichte der Kaiserl. und des Heil. Römischen Reichs freyen Stadt Lübeck' was printed at his own expense. The first two volumes were published in 1782 and 1784, covering the period from the beginnings to the Peace of Westphalia.
