a| James Hook (1746-1827) was the organist and resident composer of Vauxhall Gardens from 1774 until 1820. Hook also composed a fairly substantial amount of music for one, two and three flutes, including two sets of Twelve Duettinos for two flutes, of which this is possibly the earlier.
