a| Daniël François Scheurleer (1855-1927) was a banker, entrepreneur and music historian who founded the Société Union Musiologique in 1921, collected some 1100 music instruments (now held at the Gemeentemuseum in The Hague, now named Kunstmuseum Den Haag) and published various studies on Dutch music history. His library is currently preserved at the Nederlands Muziek Instituut.
