a| Hans Neupert studied technical physics and musicology in Munich and Erlangen. Subsequently practical training in piano making. In 1928 he joins the piano factory in Bamberg founded by his grandfather Johann Christoph Neupert, which has also been making new harpsichords since 1907, later also clavichords, keel instruments and fortepianos, so that the company soon achieves a leading position on the German market. In accordance with this specialisation, the company is renamed 'Workshops for Historical Keyboard Instruments'. In 1968 he bequeathed the collection of historical instruments founded by his grandfather to the Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg. Numerous publications on the history of the piano, including 'Vom Musikstab zum modernen Klavier' (1925, 4th ed. 1960), 'Das Cembalo' (1933, 4th ed. 1966) and 'Das Klavichord' (1942, 2nd ed. 1956).
