a| Pasquali, Niccolò, Italian violinist and composer (c.1718-1757). He travelled to Edinburgh (1740), London (c. 1743 & 1750-52) and Dublin (1748–49 & 1751-52) but in the end settled in Edinburgh, where he published the valuable treatise 'Thorough-bass made easy' (1757) and 'The Art of Fingering the Harpsichord' (Edinburgh, 1758). Besides that, his oeuvre includes 12 overtures (London, 1751), 6 sonatas for Violin and Basso Continuo (1744), 2 sets of 3 sonatas for 2 Violins, Viola, and Basso Continuo (1750), many minuets, and numerous songs.
