a| The sequence of images in this book is based on a walk across the wandering dunes of Sankt-Peter Ording in Nordfriesland, Germany. Desert Resort's detailed photographs map topographic features like rivers, mountains, and deserts: a scorched futuristic landscape. Before appearing in their final form, the images underwent two different cycles of printing. This created an almost magical change of scale, so that they almost become, as it were, charcoal-drawn aerial views.
